Seven Aspects to tell if a dog is healthy

Update Time:2023/9/4
Your dog's health is not just based on your first visual impression. To know if your dog is healthy, you need to consider your dog from seven aspects, and if any of these criteria is not met, it means that your dog has health risks and needs to be dealt with immediately. If you want to buy a pet dog, these seven criteria can also help you pick a healthy dog.
1. Ears

Healthy dogs can find sound sources according to the sound, for example, you can make a sound behind the dog or the side of the dog, if the dog is looking for the sound source, it means that his hearing is normal. In addition to hearing examination, it is also necessary to see whether there is bleeding, parasites, redness and other phenomena inside the dog's ears. If so, the dog is not healthy and needs treatment.

2. Eyes

Place your hand in front of your dog's eyes and move it from side to side. If your dog's eyes can follow your hand, he doesn't have a vision problem. Of course, it is not enough to see if the dog's vision is normal, if the dog's eyes are bloodshot, the eyeball is covered with white film or there is a lot of eye poop, it means that the dog may now be troubled by some disease.

3. Nose

Normally, your dog's nose should be wet, so if you notice your dog's nose is dry, it's time to find out what's causing it. In addition, dogs may sometimes have nasal discharge, if the nasal discharge is transparent, then you do not have to worry too much, this is a normal phenomenon. If your dog has a runny yellow nose, it may be suffering from respiratory problems.

4. Oral Cavity

To observe a dog's mouth, all you need to do is look at the color of his gums. Pink gums indicate a healthy dog, while gray gums indicate a weak dog, which may be caused by malnutrition or anemia.
5. Fur

There are four areas to check your dog's fur: around the mouth, around the neck, behind the ears, and around the thighs. If these areas appear flaky or clumpy red, it indicates that the dog may have a skin disease, while small black particles in the hair indicate flea infection. In addition, healthy dogs with shiny, brittle hair lack protein, and dogs with dry and split hair are malnourished or anemic.

6. Foot pads

Adult dog foot pads are plump and firm, and young dog foot pads are soft and delicate. If your dog's foot pad appears dry and cracked, it means that it is malnourished; If a young dog's foot pad appears hard, it may indicate the emergence of distemper.

7. Spirit

Healthy dogs are usually active and curious about new things. If the dog is listless and unwilling to interact with people, do not think that it is the "cute" of the network, it is likely to be caused by the dog's disease. In addition, if the dog is afraid of strangers, tail clamping, etc., it may be that there is no training during socialization, and it may take a long time for the dog to integrate into the new environment later.
